DJ Jazzy Jeff

Music, livestreams & fan content across web, mobile and TV.

A fan can catch the weekly Magnificent House Party live, pull up a past set, listen to a mix, or move the experience onto Apple TV without leaving the DJ Jazzy Jeff world. CoreDron’s 2022–2024 engagement worked across the web, iOS, Android and Apple TV surfaces of a product that first shipped in 2015.

Project Overview

A digital home for one of hip-hop’s defining voices.

The DJ Jazzy Jeff platform brings the weekly Magnificent House Party (MHP) livestream, the growing MHP on-demand archive, exclusive mixes, special performances, event access and the DJ Jazzy Jeff Record Store into one place. The product first shipped in 2015 and expanded to Apple TV in 2021; CoreDron’s documented engagement ran from November 2022 to February 2024, helping evolve an already established multi-platform product.

The Challenge

A music app had to become more than a library.

Fans do not think in platform silos. They want to catch tonight’s livestream, replay an older set, listen in the background, or put a longer performance on the TV — while still feeling like they are inside the same DJ Jazzy Jeff experience.

Live and On-Demand Have to Work Together

Weekly Magnificent House Party broadcasts and the growing MHP archive are the same product to the fan — the app has to make jumping from a live moment into a past show feel like one experience, not two.

Music and Video Need Flexible Playback

The catalogue is a mix of long-form video shows, DJ sets and audio mixes. Playback has to respect each format, keep the show going while the phone does something else, and stay easy to control on any screen.

The Experience Extends Beyond the Phone

Fans watch from the browser, the phone in their pocket and the television in the living room. A phone-only product would leave the moments audiences want most on the wrong screen.

Our Solution

Build around how fans actually watch and listen.

We shaped the product around one idea: the same content should feel right wherever a fan opens it. The browser handles discovery, iOS and Android keep the show close at hand, and Apple TV gives longer livestreams and replays a proper living-room destination.

Live and on-demand sit inside the same navigation. A weekly Magnificent House Party broadcast lands in the Livestream tab; when it ends, it drops straight into the MHP archive with chapter markers per DJ set. Music, video, VIP content and events all reach the fan without asking them to leave the app.

Key Capabilities

Six ways the product reaches the fan.

Magnificent House Party Livestreams

The weekly MHP broadcast has a dedicated Livestream tab with the schedule up top and live community chat below — a real-time home for the show, on every night it runs.

On-Demand MHP Archive

Every livestream lands in the on-demand archive with rich chapter markers per DJ set, so fans can jump straight to the guest they came for without scrubbing through the full show.

Audio & Video Playback

Mixes, video series and recorded livestreams all play back inside the app — with AirPlay, Picture-in-Picture and offline media on supported surfaces so the show can keep going anywhere.

Mag Mob VIP

The VIP layer gates member-only livestreams, exclusive performances and premium content — sign-in works cleanly alongside the free-tier home so the app never breaks in half.

Events & Artist Content

Event surfaces, artist series and exclusive performances live alongside the recurring shows — Vinyl Mondays, MagPod Podcast, Magnificent Pool Party, Summertime Mixtapes and more.

Apple TV

DJ Jazzy Jeff's MagMob on Apple TV extends the same channel to the television — live Magnificent House Party broadcasts and the full on-demand archive, tuned for a remote and a couch.

How the Product Works

Fan journey — from live moment to on-demand archive.

One broadcast source, four surfaces, and a straight line from the Saturday-night stream to the replay a fan pulls up two months later.

Feature Highlights

Three things the app does really well.

Three details carry most of the mobile experience: the weekly live anchor, chapter-marked replays that make a deep archive usable, and a turntable playback interface that feels unmistakably DJ Jazzy Jeff.

01

Live Anchor

Weekly livestream with the community in the room.

The Livestream tab is the recurring hook — MHP schedule (Lunch Break Wed, Friday Nights, House Party Sat) up top, live community chat below. When the stream is offline the schedule keeps the audience oriented; when it's on, chat and reactions land in real time.

02

On-Demand Archive

Chapter-marked replays for every show.

Every livestream lands in the on-demand archive with rich chapter markers per DJ set, favorite/download controls and precise timestamps — so fans can jump straight to Cory Townes, DJ Nu-Mark or Skratch Bastid without scrubbing.

03

Signature Playback

A turntable interface that feels like the artist.

Music playback drops the audience onto a virtual turntable — an on-brand playback surface that treats every mix like the record it is instead of another list item on a music app.

Product Evolution

Not a launch — a decade of releases.

The product predates CoreDron’s engagement. It first shipped in 2015, MHP reshaped the experience in 2020, and Apple TV arrived in 2021. CoreDron worked on the product from November 2022 to February 2024; later public releases show that the product continued to evolve after the engagement ended.

  1. Foundation

    Core Mobile Experience

First shipped in 2015, the app framed itself around DJ Jazzy Jeff's community — a dedicated destination for content access on mobile.

  2. 2020

    Livestream Platform Pivot

Became the primary destination for the Magnificent House Party livestream when MHP launched, opening the artist's platform to a global at-home audience.

  3. Community

    Mag Mob & VIP Access

Mag Mob sign-in, gated VIP content, member-only livestreams and special performances layered on top of the free tier.

  4. 2021

    Expanding Into the Living Room

DJ Jazzy Jeff's MagMob extended the digital experience to Apple TV, creating a dedicated tvOS destination for Magnificent House Party livestreams and on-demand video.

  5. 2022–2024

    CoreDron Engagement

CoreDron's 15-month engagement focused on the active multi-platform product described in this case study, working across mobile, web and Apple TV while the live, archive and media experiences continued to mature.

  6. After Engagement

    Events & Record Store

Public release history after CoreDron's documented engagement added the official DJ Jazzy Jeff Record Store and continued to expand event and commerce surfaces.

  7. Ongoing

    Continuous Optimization

Public store listings continued to show maintenance after the engagement — iOS v3.4.5 (April 2025), Google Play updated in Feb 2026, and Apple TV v1.3.4 (Dec 2025). These later releases are product-history signals, not CoreDron engagement dates.

Challenges & Solutions

What we ran into, and how we solved it.

Live + On-Demand Content

Problem

A weekly livestream and a deep on-demand archive feel like two products the moment the app treats them separately. Fans want to catch tonight's show and then jump back to a set from three months ago without leaving what they are doing.

Solution

We built live and on-demand behind a single navigation. The Livestream tab holds the schedule and the current MHP broadcast; when the stream ends, the episode drops straight into the on-demand archive with chapter markers per DJ set so the same fan can keep watching without switching context.

Flexible Media Consumption

Problem

Fans want to watch a full video show, listen to a mix in the background, cast to a bigger screen, or come back to a favorite later. A player that only supports one of those turns a music product into a chore.

Solution

Playback is shaped for each format — long-form video with Picture-in-Picture and AirPlay on iOS, audio that keeps playing when the app is backgrounded, offline media for supported files and bookmarks so fans can save a show for later.

Mobile vs Television

Problem

A phone screen and a television are different rooms in a fan's life. A phone layout stretched to fit a TV, or a TV-style browse forced onto a phone, misses the moment either device is best at.

Solution

The iOS and Android apps stay tuned for the personal-device moment — quick navigation, portable playback, member sign-in in the pocket. DJ Jazzy Jeff's MagMob on Apple TV is a purpose-built tvOS experience for the living room, so the show lands on the couch the way it should.

Results

One artist experience across multiple screens.

During the 2022–2024 engagement, CoreDron helped evolve a product already carrying DJ Jazzy Jeff’s live programming, archive and Mag Mob experience across web, mobile and TV. The strongest proof is public and concrete: active store listings, a dedicated Apple TV product and a substantial MHP archive.

DJ Jazzy Jeff Case Study FAQs

Quick answers about the DJ Jazzy Jeff project.

What is the DJ Jazzy Jeff app?

The DJ Jazzy Jeff app is the official digital home for DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Mag Mob community. It brings the weekly Magnificent House Party livestream, an on-demand MHP archive, exclusive mixes, special performances, event access and the DJ Jazzy Jeff Record Store into a single experience across web, iOS, Android and Apple TV.

What did CoreDron build for DJ Jazzy Jeff?

CoreDron's documented 2022-2024 engagement covered the DJ Jazzy Jeff multi-platform product across web, iOS and Android, plus the Apple TV surface for Magnificent House Party and the connected music, video and livestream experiences described in this case study.

What platforms does the DJ Jazzy Jeff product cover?

The product spans a website at djjazzyjeff.com, iOS and Android applications, and a dedicated tvOS build titled DJ Jazzy Jeff's MagMob on Apple TV — so fans can join the livestream or browse the archive from a phone, a browser or the television.

How does the app handle live streams and the on-demand archive?

Live and on-demand sit side-by-side inside the same product. Weekly Magnificent House Party broadcasts anchor the Livestream tab in real time, and every episode lands in the on-demand MHP archive with chapter markers per DJ set so fans can jump straight to the mix they want to hear.

What technology was used for the mobile applications?

The DJ Jazzy Jeff product is available as iOS and Android applications. This case study does not publish the exact mobile framework because the implementation stack has not been independently verified from project source code. Verified surfaces (web, iOS, Android and Apple TV) and product behaviors (livestream, on-demand archive, Picture-in-Picture on iOS, offline media) are described directly in the case study; framework claims are held back until source verification is complete.
